In art I've been working on my poster which is focused around a sort of noodle shop. I had to change a few things since my previous theme was around a asian-inspired logo design company, but now it is a asian noodle shop. I had use same colour palette as it fits but it kind of forces me to work with a more modern approach. I also wanted it stand out from others which I found quite difficult.
Here are all my different designs for my poster. I tried to go for a somewhat minimal approach which I kind of liked but I found it really hard to develop it in a 'more is less' way. Overall I do like my final poster design which is in the very bottom right; as it conveys the message while having a logo to allow us to be identified by the viewers. I do want to work on it a bit more but I'm working on a magazine spread just to have a change of pace instead of being stuck on the same thing.
Here is my start to my magazine spread designs.
As of now the magazine spread feels a bit too bland. I want to develop it in a way that it doesn't feel too different from my poster design to keep the consistency. My poster also uses quite a lot of white space which is something I try doing here while having the necessary information you would see in a magazine spread.
Kia ora Jason, this is good. You are being really thoughtful ab out where things go and keeping it simple. Thats the best approach to good design.
ReplyDeleteI have included a couple of links to help get your thinking going with the DPS. But firstly, i would like to make it clear that you need to start way back with thumbnail sketches. these need to be then included on your board.
work to a grid. outline a grid first on your sketches and keep it simple - no more than five or seven areas. That is deliberately an odd number. You need to determine 'hierarchy' and where text will sit. You will need to think about a subtitle as well as a heading. Most like something to do with promoting a menu would be most useful. Including the menu or a menu 'deal' would be good I think. this is entirely fictional, so if you have to, borrow another restaurant's menu.
